WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO BRING | WHAT NOT TO BRING | GETTING READY FOR BMT
PRE-BMT TRAINING PROGRAM | YOUR FIRST WEEK
IMPORTANT FIRST WEEK INFORMATION | A TYPICAL DAY IN BASIC
GRADUATION

Your first week at BMT is unlike anything you’ve likely experienced. Below, you’ll find information and tips about your arrival, quarters, daily schedule and more.

Arrival
As stated previously, you will take a commercial airline flight to the San Antonio Airport. Once there, please make your way to the "A" Terminal and report in to the Air Force Receiving Station.

You will then meet your first group of T.I.s, or Training Instructors. The T.I.s will then line you up in your first formation and direct you to the Air Force bus.

After arriving at your dormitory, you will meet your flight’s Training Instructor and Assistant Training Instructor. You will  be required to address them as "Sir," or "Ma'am."

The Dormitories
Air Force sleeping quarters are called “dormitories,” not “barracks.”

Showers
During BMT, recruits will take a shower once a night. You will need to provide your own slip-on shower shoes and should shower as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Zero Week
After arriving at Lackland on Tuesday, the rest of the week is known as "Zero Week." You will wake up at 0445 and go to bed at 2100. You will need your civilian clothes for the first couple of days.
